About Glocal Sustainability

Society continues to struggle with striking a balance with the environment in the contentiously dispensed issue of sustainability. The Anthropocene has seen unprecedented adverse exploitation of the environment, and the consequent outcomes continue to be more unbearable. Why is it that while we know the solutions, we still try to find excuses not to commit and do the right thing?

At Glocal Sustainability, we endeavour to rethink sustainability pathways within and beyond the Sustainable Development Goals framework and create a forum where people; especially youth across the globe can share ideas on how to improve livelihoods while rehabilitating, improving, and protecting our environment and society. We do this by sharing knowledge and ideas from multidimensional and holistic points of view. We wish to interrogate how our politics play a role, how space and society interacts, and how we can benefit from economic activities that improve lives in a sustainable way.

Our areas of focus spread across Sustainable Food Systems & Agriculture, Ecosystems and Conservation, Geopolitics, Environmental Economics, Environmental Education/Education for Sustainable Development, Development Cooperation, Environmental Law/Policy, Inequalities and Just Transitions, Poverty Eradication among others. Understanding the inter-relationships between these and other domains of sustainability presents a reasoned approach for rethinking sustainability pathways for sustainable development especially in the Global South, but also in the West. No doubt that sustainability has become a word, whose meaning is continuously being dissolved and taken for granted. Such dispensation requires a steadfast change in communicating sustainability so that the correct, accurate, and relevant information is spread across the globe.

We welcome you to share your ideas with us on improving livelihoods through rethinking sustainability Pathways for an environmentally conscious and responsible society. Our glocal thinking approach to sustainability enables us to cross-examine global issues, with solutions that apply to different local contexts, but whose cumulative impact is universally significant. Glocal Sustainability wishes to invite all people and organizations working in business, academia, government & NGOs, and other fields to share opinions on how to embrace sustainability at all levels.
